Day31 Story

The Day 31 Haunted House (formerly known as A Canyon Rim Haunting) came
about as a result of my love for Halloween, strange occurences and sightings
experienced by myself and a few of my neighbors, and the discovery of an old
newspaper article from the Inland Empire Sun.
According to the newspaper article, in the late 1960's into the 70's, a serial
murderer stalked Southern California's Inland Empire. The I.E. Killer, as he was
eventually dubbed by the media, was ultimately linked to 7 murders, and is
suspected to have perhaps orchestrated as many as a dozen additional killing
between 1968 - 1977. The I.E. killer escaped the sort of media attention other
serial killers get due to the fact that most of his murders were not definitively
linked to him until after the killings abruptly ceased in 1977. Due to the sporadic
nature of his killings and the mixed age, sex, and ethnicity of his victims,
authorities had nothing to link the victims together except for the locations the
bodies were discovered.
The Killer disposed of his victim's bodies in the present day Temecula and
Murrieta region of southwest Riverside County. This, of course, caught my
attention, and additional research aided by a friend with the San Bernardino P.D.
and the Temecula Historical Society revealed that the dump sites of the 7 linked
victims covered a 5 square mile radius centered around where Temecula's
Chapparal High School now stands. This also happens to be about 1 mile from my
home, which would have been a sage canyon near sleepy Winchester Road
(Highway 79) during the time the I.E. killer was conducting his murder spree. To
this day, no one knows why the killings abruptly ended, and it is additonally
unkown whether the victims were dead before being dumped or were perhaps
murdered directly on or near the site where I now live.
The Day 31 Haunted House was inspired by strange sounds and sightings that
have occurred on and around my property for as long as I have lived here. The
sighting of a young girl wearing a bluish colored dress who walked through a wall
as if it wasn't there was the most profound of these occurrences. The sighting of
the girl was also confirmed by my immediate neighbor who eventually sold his
house and moved to another home locally in large part due to the number of
unexplained disturbances and noises. In my 6 years here, I have seen the girl 3
times and experienced dozens of phenomenon that I am unable to satisfactorily
explain. While these events have been sporadic and ultimately benign, they can be
quite unsettling when they occur.
If you are curious, and if you are brave, you are invited to come experience them
for yourself on Halloween night.
The countdown to Day 31 has begun.
